Two New SHA Staff Members

This month we welcome two new development staff members to the SHA team. Eilidh McDonald joined us at the start of the month, and Emma High will join us on the 14th of November.

This is an incredibly exciting time for us at Scottish Handball as we begin to our EHF 360 Master Plan Project. These two appointments will kickstart the five year project, focusing on growing handball at schools as well as developing the Women & Girls game.

As a handball player from a young age Eilidh McDonald joins us with incredible amounts of passion and excitment. As a recent graduate, Eilidh worked with Active Schools for over four years developing Handball in South Ayrshire. During this time, she created and delivered programmes to increase handball participation, led coach education courses and rebuilt Troon handball after a loss of members due to covid.

Eilidh has also worked with Scottish Handball delivering coach education courses and refereeing women and junior games.

Since graduating from the University of Stirling in 2017, Emma has worked within governing bodies for five years, prominently within competitions. She most recently worked as a Competitions and Events Manager at Scottish Hockey. Emma was responsible for managing and developing senior competitions as well as being the event manager for senior events, including the recent 4 Nations and EuroHockey Qualifiers.

Emma has been involved in sport growing up mostly within Netball and Swimming and most recently paddleboarding. She is looking forward to starting at handball and getting involved in an exciting growing sport.

This is a historic time for the Scottish Handball Association, as this is the largest the staff team the organisation has ever been. We look forward to operating as a team of 4.5 FTE!
